Schauinslandhaus

The Schauinslandhaus is the only building in the museum with the entrance on the smaller side. Like the Hotzenwald, the Schauinsland area is characterised
by little farms.

The farmers supported their income with money earned through handcrafts. The woodworkers workshop set up by the museum in the Schauinslandhaus shows the typical kinds of things that were made, such as everyday wooden utensils like cutlery or bowls.

In the loft of the Schauinslandhaus you will find the permanent exhibition “The Farmer and the Good Lord” (Der Bauer und der liebe Gott). The theme of this exhibition is the highly symbolic representations of popular piety, life and death in rural communities.
